Use MS Excel Efficiently, By Having These Tricks On Your Fingertips!


MS Excel is a powerful tool, as it can do innumerous stunts for a user, it could be a student or a professional. Many times, it happens that users fumble to work with this efficient tool of Microsoft. We have put together few of the simple tips to use MS Excel in a better manner. These tips are helpful for the beginners, intermediate users and perhaps, the advanced users will be benefitted from these tips.



Shortcut keys for MS Excel:

 F2– To edit the selected cell
F5– To go to a particular cell
F7– To spell check a specific text



F11– To create a chart
Ctrl+A — To select the content of the spreadsheet
 Ctrl+B — To bold the selected text
Ctrl + Shift + ; — To enter the current time
Ctrl + ; — To enter the current date
Shift + F3 — To open the formula window
Ctrl+Tab — To switch between open Excel Windows
Ctrl+Z — To undo any mistake (if made)
Ctrl+Y — To redo anything that you had mistakenly deleted
Ctrl+K — To insert any hyperlinks to any selected text
CTRL + SHIFT + ” — To copy the above cell text to the current cell

Split your spreadsheet: If your Excel sheet is too long to work with, it has a provision to split the same sheet into two, so that you do not have to scroll to the extreme ends to work with the columns.

Click and drag the cursor over the icon, on the bottom of the right side scroll bar. Once the part that you wanted to move is placed correctly, you can let go the mouse cursor.

To unsplit it: You need to drag the splitted portion back to the position, in the similar manner.
Repeat the last action: If you have copied a text to a particular cell and want to copy the same text to another cell, then select the cell and press F4 key to perform the action. F4 is used to repeat the last action.

Close all Excel files: To close all the open Excel files, press and hold the ‘Shift’ key and click on ‘File’. From there, select ‘Close all’. This will close all your Excel files in a shot.

 Open the recent files: Press ‘Alt+F’ to get the menu opened. Then, select the number corresponding to the document, which you would like to open.

Print particular portion:
If you want to get a specific area printed, then it is of no use or mere wastage of ink, to get the entire spread sheet printed. To avoid this wastage, you can select the portion to be printed and in the ‘Print’ dialog box, choose the option of ‘Selection’ to print a specific portion.
