Maintenance is automated in Windows 8:

The maintenance is automated, by default at 3 a.m., so that your work doesn’t get disturbed. This time can be changed and can be maintained from the Action Center.

When you search for an app, you may see the app available in the search bar. Search bar has a list of apps, which can be customized too. If you want to delete an app from the bar, it can be done easily. To edit the list in the search bar, bring on the Charms bar by pressing ‘Win’ key+C and choose ‘Settings’ from there. Navigate to the option of “Change PC Settings”. Now, select ‘Search’ on the left side bar and turn off the app that you do not want to view in the list anymore.
Customize the library icons:
Although customizing the icons in the previous version of Windows operating system is available, but it is complicated. Windows 8 makes it better and you can find many options to customize the icons in the library. To customize the icons, you need right click on library and select ‘Properties’ from the menu. This will bring many options to customize the icons of library.
Faster screenshots:
Taking screen shot in an old traditional method is tedious and time taking. With Windows 8, taking screen shots has become extremely easier. All you need to do is press “Win+Print Screen” and the screen shot will be taken and saved into ‘pictures’ folder as PNG file.
Change the number of rows:
By default, the number of rows in the metro style screen is 6. If you feel it to be too many, you can reduce the number of rows on the Start screen, to have a less cluttered look. This change can be made in the
Registry.
These are few of the apps that make working with Windows 8 great. Many users do not prefer this OS because they are not familiar with many of its features. Once you know the features, you’ll love it.
